08 Apr Helon Habila – DAAD Fellow 2013-2014
Parrésia Publishers Ltd is pleased to announce that its author, Helon Habila, will be a DAAD Artist-In-Berlin Fellow from 2013 to 2014.
The Berliner Kunstlerprogramm, one of the world’s most reputed donors in the fields of literature, visual arts, film and music, has funded the DAAD Residency since 1963 and has hosted fewer than 1000 guests in its fifty year history, underscoring the quality of the programme. This Fellowship further validates the exceptional talent of Helon Habila who has won such literary honours as the Caine and Commonwealth Prizes in the last decade.
Helon Habila, born in 1967 at Kaltungo in the present Gombe State of Nigeria, will join a distinguished list of previous DAAD Fellows including W. H. Auden, Susan Sontag, Carlos Fuentes, Breyten Breytenbach and Mario Vargas Llosa. Helon Habila’s latest novel, Oil on Water, is available online and in bookstores in Nigeria from Parrésia Books.
